There’s nothing quite like spring blooms to refresh your space and welcome the new season. After months of winter’s cozy, muted tones, adding fresh flowers and light, airy decor instantly brightens your home. Whether you’re drawn to soft pastels, vibrant florals, or simple greenery, decorating with flowers is one of the easiest ways to bring the beauty of spring indoors.

If you’re looking for spring ideas for home that are stylish, budget-friendly, and effortless to pull together, this guide has you covered. From classic tulips and daffodils to unique picks like English daisies and cherry blossoms, you’ll find plenty of inspiration for incorporating flowers in the home. No matter your space or budget. Get ready to embrace the season with fresh, creative ideas for decorating with flowers and making your home feel like spring.

When should you start decorating for spring?

spring blooms on a table in front of a window

I like to start decorating for spring as soon as the days feel a little longer and the air starts to warm up. For most people, that’s late February to early March. But if you’re eager to bring in that fresh, bright feeling sooner, you can start adding small touches indoors like spring blooms and vibrant flower arrangements, even while it’s still chilly outside.

A great way to ease into it is by decorating with flowers like tulips, daffodils, or hyacinths. Swap out heavy winter decor for lighter textures, pastel colors, and fresh greenery. I always start with something simple, like a floral centerpiece on the dining table or a small vase of spring blooms in the entryway.

If you’re on a budget, look for grocery store flowers or faux options that last all season. Even a few branches from your backyard can bring a touch of spring into your home without spending a dime!

What is the difference between summer and spring decor?

Photo by Jill Wellington: citrus and flowers as spring decor and summer decor

Spring decor is all about soft, fresh, and airy vibes, while summer decor leans more bold, tropical, and vibrant. In spring, I focus on light pastel colors, delicate florals, and natural textures things like linen, cotton, and soft woven baskets.

By summer, I swap in brighter colors, coastal-inspired elements, and more outdoor-friendly decor. For example, flowers in the home for spring might include daffodils, lilacs, and cherry blossoms, but in summer, I lean toward sunflowers, dahlias, and tropical greenery.

A simple way to transition your space is by switching out pillows, throws, and small floral arrangements. If you’re using spring blooms like tulips in a vase, you can later replace them with vibrant summer flowers like hydrangeas. This keeps your decor seasonal without a big budget or major effort.

To keep your home looking fresh and inviting year-round, start with versatile decor pieces that can easily transition between seasons. Check out my guide on How To Decorate On A Budget With Just The Basics for simple, affordable ways to refresh your space without overspending!

What are the top 3 spring colors?

For me, the top three must-have spring colors are:

  1. Soft Pastels – Think blush pink, baby blue, and lavender. These colors make any space feel light and fresh.
  2. Fresh Greens – A pop of sage, mint, or soft olive brings a natural, outdoorsy feel inside. Adding greenery to your flower arrangements or using small potted plants instantly brightens a room.
  3. Warm Neutrals – Shades like creamy white, soft beige, and light taupe help create a cozy but airy look. They also pair beautifully with spring blooms in any color.

Bringing these spring colors into your home is even easier when you incorporate natural elements like plants and fresh flowers. Explore my tips on Using Plants to Decorate: How to Transform Your Home with Greenery to effortlessly refresh your space with lush, vibrant touches!

What is the most beautiful flower in spring?

peonies in brown paper

There are so many gorgeous spring blooms, but if I had to pick one, I’d say peonies. They’re full and romantic, and bring instant elegance to any space. The best part? Even a single peony in a vase can make a statement.

Other favorites for decorating with flowers in the home include:

  • Tulips – Perfect for an effortless, modern look.
  • Daffodils – Bright, happy, and super budget-friendly.
  • Ranunculus – Delicate and layered, they look like mini roses.

If you’re looking for flowers for April, you can’t go wrong with hyacinths, lilacs, and cherry blossoms. I love arranging a few stems in vases throughout my home—it’s an easy, affordable way to celebrate spring without overcomplicating things.

Painting pumpkins as an addition to your Halloween and fall decor is a wonderful idea.

The great thing about diy decor is that you can invite your personality into the item, giving it a personal touch.

As opposed to traditional pumpkin carving, painted pumpkins are not limited to what can be carved into a gourd.

Allowing you to create decor in your style, giving you pumpkins that reflect your aesthetic and style.

A great family-friendly activity that is perfect for all ages. Perfect as an activity for kids as it reduces risks as there are no carving tools only paint and drawing supplies.

As a versatile decor item, painted pumpkins are great as Thanksgiving centerpieces and Halloween decor items. You can personalize each pumpkin for each area of the home, from ghoulish Halloween pumpkins as decor for a Halloween-themed entryway to cute painted pumpkins as coffee table decor.

What You’ll Need

Natural And Biodegradable Options

Milk Paint
Real milk paint is made from 100% organic material. Is non-toxic and safe for kids and pets.

Chalk Paint
Chalk paint is generally more eco-friendly. Look for non-toxic chalk paint.

Sealer / Base And Top Coat

Mod Podge
Mod Podge is a great nontoxic sealer and is a staple in most DIYer kits as it has so many uses.

Spray Sealer
Spray sealer is a great option as well. Remember to use an outdoor spray sealer if your pumpkins will be outside.

Outdoor Sealer
Using an outdoor sealer with help lengthen the life of your pumpkin outdoors. There are indoor/outdoor sealers that are a cost-effective option.

Paints

Acrylic Paints
Acrylic paints are the best paint to paint pumpkins, both real and artificial. House paint also works well, a great option for matching pumpkins to a room or using leftover paint.

Paint Markers
Paint pens are easy to use for both adults and kids, as well as quick drying, minimizing the time between layers. They are also durable, which could make them suited for outside pumpkins.

Permanent Markers
Markers are a great option. They are easy to use and are great for line drawings. However, the pumpkin needs a coat of paint for the marker to adhere to.

Accessories

Paint Brushes
A wide range of paintbrush sizes is helpful.

Paint Sponge
Sponges are a great tool for texture and stenciling.

How To Paint A Pumpkin

Clean

For best results, ensure your pumpkins are cleaned and disinfected before painting. Either using a bleach and water solution (1:3) or vinegar.

Clean thoroughly and allow it to dry before applying the base coat completely.

Base Coat

Before painting your masterpieces, apply a sealer as a base coat. For outdoor pumpkins, use a sealer for outdoor use.

Paint

Use as good quality paints and markers as you can. Acrylic paints are the best paints for painting pumpkins; however, markers and paint pens work well. Make sure to let the Paint dry between coats.

For a natural option, opt for milk Paint or chalk paint.

If your painted pumpkins are going to be living outside, use paint designed for outside use. This will help with longevity.

Seal

When you have finished your pumpkin, seal (use sealer from the base coat) the pumpkins to prevent the paint from flaking and help further its life.

How to dispose of the pumpkins

Unfortunately, the pumpkins can not be fully composted because of the sealers and acrylic paint.

However, you can remove the skin, compost the pumpkin’s remains, and place the painted pieces in the trash.

This post features 15 entryway table Halloween Display Ideas.

From decorating the entire house for Halloween to simply sticking vinyl bats in the windows and everything in between, there are a multitude of ways and styles to prepare your home for the season.

Why not start at the front of the house with a Halloween display in the entryway table?

pin image

Decorating a console table at the entrance to your home gives you a chance to go as all out or as subtle as you want. Follow the theme into the rest of the house or focus on the entryway table with cobwebs sporadically placed throughout the rest of the home.

They are perfect for Halloween night because that is the area of the house that gets the most visits once the doorbells start ringing.

As I was researching this collection of Halloween entry table ideas, I found myself overwhelmed with inspiration.

Lucky for you, I have curated the best Halloween displays for your console table – now all you need to do is read on and get inspired.

Halloween Display That Expands What You Have

A simple and discreet way to start the Halloween decoration in your home. Use what you have and add Halloween touches that can easily be swapped out for the next season.

17 Easy Last-Minute Halloween Decorations For Busy People

Match The Decor To The Furniture

Create a Halloween display that coordinates perfectly with your existing color scheme.

Change what is in the frames and add Halloween decor items like these gorgeous metal pumpkins and spider tea light candle holders.

Besides being a traditional Halloween color, black makes creating a chic Halloween display easy.

Use everyday decor items in black, add some skulls and witches’ hats and you have a cool but spooky console table.

Deep Dark And Blue

Move away from the traditional Halloween colors and towards blue.

A deep, dark blue gives a similar feel to blue and paired with black and silver gives an otherworldly feel like you are inside a witch’s house with her potions and charms.

An ominous message written on a mirror can make any entry feel spooky and not welcoming in the best way during the Halloween season.

In addition to skulls, hands, and crows create a haunted house-themed entryway table that looks great from any doorway.

Most of the items to create a haunted house entryway table can be found in thrift shops

Bring the farmhouse aesthetic into halloween decorating with checkered pumpkins and rustic frames with spooky quotes and don’t forget the decorative pumpkin.

Harry Potter-Inspired Halloween Display

Create a cute and fun entryway Halloween display inspired by Harry Potter.

Add your house colors interwoven with vintage books from the thrift shop to create a terrific Halloween display.

Halloween Display With Witches And Potions

Halloween Display Using Bones

Just A Skeleton

A simple but creative way to decorate your entryway table this Halloween is to add a skeleton next to the table.
